Located in northwest Montana, Glacier National Park is home to stunning mountain landscapes and a diversity of wildlife, including grizzly bears and mountain goats.
Boasting some 150 glaciers in the mid-19th century, due to global warming only about 25 remain today. Most or all are projected to be gone well before mid-century.
Beautiful waterfalls, too, abound in Glacier. Spring and summer0 flowers, as well as fall colors, are a favorite of park visitors.
Going-to-the-Sun-Road, a steep, twisting and cloud-touching drive, is one of the world’s great roadways. Fortunate indeed is the visitor who has the opportunity to traverse Going-to-the-Sun-Road in one of Glacier’s iconic red buses.
On the western side of the park Lake McDonald Lodge, on the shore of Lake McDonald, a glacial lake, is one of America’s iconic national park lodges. On the eastern side of the park, Many Glacier Lodge, evocative of a Swiss chalet, on the shore of Swiftcurrent Lake offers ready access to glacial trails.
